Years lived in HB and where? Born Hastings. After I was born my parents moved back to the UK but we came back in 1972:Lived in Te Aute Road, Leghorn Lane and Plassey Street
What schools did you go to? Havelock North Primary School / Lindisfarne for intermediate yearsHavelock north high for 3rd form and part of 4th before moving to Sydney
Who was your favourite teacher/s? I mind Mr Clothier at Havelock North primary, he also lived across the road from us in Te Aute road
Where did you study for further education? N/A ….although Sydney technical college for part of my hair apprenticeship
Were you a member of any clubs or teams?I played soccer for havelock north wanderers as did my dad and grandfather … at one time that senior team made the paper for having the oldest average age lol
Did you think you’d be doing what you’re doing now? Definitely not lol
Who influenced you growing up? I played a lot of sports, I was a soccer REP I have always kept active because of this and originally wanted to be a pe teacher, the active lifestyle of NZ
What do you miss about Hawke’s Bay?The weather , it was safe and it was always a community ,
What reminds you of Hawke’s Bay where you live? I now live in Edinburgh which as a city is not very big , it is surrounded by farms and small towns / villages which reminds me of havelock, driving past the farms , it is very much like NZ.
What are you doing now? I have had a hair salon in Edinburgh for the past 16 years : Mckensie Knight hair

Advice for young people of Hawke’s Bay Don’t be shortsighted , SEE the bigger picture…Enjoy HB and appreciate it because there really is nowhere else like it.
